Our Projects

In 2018, World Vision-Korea funded a project Children Born in Captivity Rehabilitation (CBCR). The goal of the project was to contribute to improved protection and sustainable wellbeing of 90 most vulnerable children born in captivity by September 2020.

This project resettled 30 homeless families of Children/youth Born in Captivity (CBC) by supporting them to acquire land for resettlement on which descent semi-permanent low-cost shelters were constructed hence children are being cared for in a loving and safe family environment.

Secondly, the project empowered 30 Vulnerable CBC with Vocational skills and start up kits so that they set up viable enterprises to support their families.

Thirdly, the CBCR project empowered 30 families with start-up capital to set up enterprises and be able to meet their basic needs and improve their standards of living.

This project reached 90 direct beneficiaries and 810 indirect beneficiaries.

In 2020, the British High Commission funded a project whose goal was to create awareness around prevention of sexual violence in post conflict while providing life-skills & livelihood for survivors and children born in captivity.

The project enhanced community knowledge on Preventing Sexual Violence in conflict Initiative (PSVI) hence acceptance and support for survivors and children/youth born in conflict. It further empowered the children and survivors to create self-sustaining livelihoods.

Activities included practical skills trainings (making crafts for sale) for a select group of survivors and children and community level sensitization through outreach sessions and radio talk shows on PSVI. This enabled the community to understand the importance of accepting survivors and their children as one way to promote peace and avoid future conflict and most importantly the dangers of using sexual violence as a weapon of war.

About the Project

The Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) Project is spearheaded by Watye Ki Gen Organisation in Amuru District. This initiative is dedicated to strengthening community resilience against climate change while improving food security, livelihoods, and social wellbeing.

Our Approach

• Community Ownership: Local voices guide every stage of the project, ensuring sustainability.

• Climate-Smart Agriculture: Farmers, women, and youth adopt innovative practices to boost yields and protect the environment.

• Knowledge Sharing: Trainings and sensitization sessions spread awareness on food security, equality, and resilience.

• Partnerships: Collaboration with leaders, cultural institutions, and faith groups builds trust and amplifies impact.

• Accountability: Transparent monitoring tools track progress and reinforce community confidence.

Watye Ki Gen (WKG) Scholarship Program

Empowering Uganda’s children and youth through education and opportunity

At Watye Ki Gen (WKG), we believe education is the most sustainable path out of poverty. For over twelve years, we have championed equal access to quality education for young people from low‑income families through durable, long‑term scholarships.

Education is more than a classroom experience it is a foundation for dignity, opportunity, and transformation. By supporting vulnerable children to complete school, we help them lift their families, strengthen communities, and contribute meaningfully to Uganda’s growth.

Our Education Sponsorship Program empowers underprivileged children / youth to become intellectually and emotionally mature individuals, equipped with the skills and confidence to pursue better prospects. We see education as a bridge to professional competence and social confidence a tool that unlocks potential and nurtures leadership.

Since our founding, WKG has been a steadfast advocate for the rights and needs of vulnerable children. Together with our partners, we ensure that young people gain not only academic knowledge but also technical and life skills to earn a livelihood.

We believe every young person deserves the chance to realize their full potential. When empowered, they become problem‑solvers, change‑makers, and leaders who shape a brighter future for all.
